3/1/2023 0 Comments Flexiglass canopy window![]() We all like our different canopies for different reasons but are some of us more susceptible to this issue than others? It got me wondering how many of us would be in the same position or is this just a problem overseas. He claims that the replacement glass is no longer available and suggests that he's now got a useless canopy. What do you guys reckon, too solid/heavy? Too flimsy? What about twist because the front legs are straight? Edit: Not shown here is some bracing with flat on the outside corners or with angled RHS cutoffs. For those of you who also read the UK forums you may have come across a recent thread where a guys Carryboy rear window was smashed by a lowlife trying to break in with a crow bar. The uprights and front to rear of the frame are 50mm RHS, the sideways supports are 40mm RHS and the siderails are 25mm RHS. The bike and would be then put on top of it with the rear wheel on the tailgate. Needs to be able to be unbolted, flipped upside down and still fit in the tray in case of a motorbike breakdown. High enough to open toolbox and fridge, check! The rear section will only have my feet on it and will hopefully support itself with the side rails. Will hinge out for extra length so I can roll my swag out on top OR tarp it all up and sleep in the tray if it rains. Will not be used to carry a lot of weight, just bits and pieces, maybe some firewood etc. ![]() This is the first thing I've ever drawn in SketchUp so you'll have to imagine the mesh, it recesses on top of the 40mm RHS. The legs that are wider apart are at the rear. Not exactly a canopy but I'm designing a rack to build out of RHS and Aluminium screen door mesh for a trip to the Simpson in a few months and was hoping for some input. ![]() I know Ironman 4x4 doesn't have the greatest reputation for their suspension, but I'm definitely happy with their canopy, service & the other bits and pieces I've gotten from them. Only thing missing is a rear brake light, which they dont do as the GLX-R has one in the tail gate. Its made of the same 9mm ABS plastic that ARB & CarryBoy use, the locks are solid, rear window is slam-shut like CarryBoy. Even did me a deal on installation & threw in a pair of aluminium cross bars for free. Ironman comes with marine carpet, interior light, outwards folding windows, factory tint, integrated steel frame rated for 80kg on the move & 200kg stationary, factory rails and the guys at their Dandenong Sth showroom & factory are good blokes. Can only tell in direct sunlight its a slight tone difference. The Ironman came standard in white & nearly matches the Triton white perfectly. CarryBoy wanted way too much, nearly $4000 to install & paint. I checked out nearly all options in Victoria. I didn't like the double locks on the back of the ARB, although you can't deny its a quality unit. But offered me an ARB for $2600 installed. Mitsubishi dealer outright refused to sell me a factory canopy, as he didnt like the quality. I decided to go with an Ironman 4x4, and couldnt be happier. I also prefer the look of the genuine, and it can easily be taken off, if required. The genuine one is also covered by your warranty, if fitted by Mitsi. The fit is great, and I have no water leaking in at all. The early ARB units had a problem with the rear window breaking.Īll the latest ones don't have these issues. The early genuine canopies had some fitment issues, and some were warped. Please help, its doing my head in as its a significant amount of money that Ill be outlaying and dont want to buy one wishing that Id got the other after having it fitted. Are those with the grain finish ARB canopy happy with the finish. Also looking at the Mitshubishi trade canopy, smooth finish/colour coded/left and right sliding windows, $2786įrom those that have made the purchase and after having the canopy on your truck would you suggested the ARB or genuine Mitshu canopy when considering quality, finish, fit, value for money. Both coloured with left and right slide windows. I'm looking at both the ARB smooth finish and grained finish canopy. Need some input from those that have made the canopy purchase previously.
